Oversized symbols have taken over Issey Miyake's designs as well as its store at Siam Discovery: The Exploratorium.
Images of Continuous Symbols stand above the display of ready-to-wear from the Ikko Tanaka Issey Miyake collection, the fourth in a series launched in 2016.
An influential graphic designer, Tanaka is known for contemporary expressions of Japanese culture and traditions through his works that include posters, symbols, logos as well as minimalist packaging.
His contributions to the design world led to his induction into the Hall of Fame at the Advertising Director's Club of New York in 1994.
Likewise, Issey Miyake pays tribute to the late graphic master by replicating his designs for the wardrobe.
The latest Ikko Tanaka Issey Miyake collection features four Continuous Symbols, labelled C, E, F and G, on sporty apparels and accessories based on a black and white colour scheme.
Tanaka was inspired by the Otemae Art Center, designed by Tadao Ando, located in Nishinomiya city, Hyogo. The series of symbols features neatly-arranged geometric shapes rather than unstructured hand-drawn forms used in his previous artworks.
The Japanese fashion brand, though, does not consider them as merely motifs, and uses them to create energising clothing, by intensifying Tanaka's works when worn in a three-dimensional form.
