Big Walk devs have heard your complaints about a pesky bug, and they are sprinting to fix it

Indie smash hit Big Walk is off to a rip-roaring start in its days since release, becoming one of the highest-rated games of 2026, but it’s not without its issues.

Sitting at a 94 critic rating on Metacritic, it’s likely going to be in the discussion for awards at the end of the year. But right now, a bug is hampering the fun and even potentially the progress for some players in the co-op adventure.

“We understand that some people are having a problem where their friends’ voices are too quiet in the game,” the devs at House House said today. “Sorry about this! While Big Walk is built around players getting quieter when they are farther away, we can see that for some setups, players’ voices are much quieter than intended even when very close by. We’re working to put out a fix as soon as we can.”

Big Walk features proximity chat as players work and walk together to solve puzzles and make discoveries around the environment together, so being unable to properly hear your friend or teammate will undoubtedly cause issues. Thankfully, the makers of Untitled Goose Game are hard at work on fixing this pesky problem in their latest title.

I haven’t gotten around to trying out Big Walk myself, but the reviews and general sentiment around the game make me curious. From the outside looking in, it seemed like another in a long line of “friendslop” games, but reviews from critics and players alike indicate otherwise.

It’s currently discounted on Steam for $14.99, so it may be worth checking out if your friend group is looking to try out something different and casual this weekend. Now, if only I had pals of my own to walk the long and winding road of friendship with.
