In the eight of a series of articles on the Big Venture Challenge Winners, we introduce today Jayne Hulbert & Jayne Creswell, founders of The SWEET Project.
Big Venture Challenge is a national programme, run by UnLtd and supported by the Big Lottery Fund, to find 25 of the most ambitious social entrepreneurs in England. The 25 winners all want investment so that their enterprises can deliver social impact on a significant scale. They will each receive a unique package of financial and non-financial support to help them achieve their goals. Meet winner No 8:
Jayne Hulbert & Jayne Creswell, founders of The SWEET Project
Who are they?
Jayne Hulbert and Jayne Creswell are the co-founders, and have set the vision for the organisation, embedded their values and built a solid basis for growth. This business combines their two passions of raising the standards of student work placements and helping families in need of support. Together, and with their team, they have extensive experience of social work and student placements.
What do they do?
The SWEET Project (TSP) works with vulnerable families to prevent social problems from escalating. These families do not receive statutory support and are facing a tipping point of decline. They do this by providing high quality, supervised social work student placements to universities. Their customers are the universities and the project's beneficiaries include the students and families in disadvantage.
Why were they selected?
The judges and UnLtd were very impressed by this creative solution to a substantial and under-reported problem. They were convinced that the model works, and are optimistic about the potential for scale with the right support from the Big Venture Challenge.
