Big travel changes announced for UK holidaymakers visiting Spain

Spain has lifted all of its coronavirus travel restrictions with immediate effect. The news is a boost for UK holidaymakers.

Spain is one of the most popular destinations for Brits looking for a break. The lifting of the rules was confirmed by the Spanish Government in an official bulletin.

Officials said the restrictions on travellers were no longer justified given the drop in cases of the virus, reports BirminghamLive. Today (October 21), the UK Government also confirmed the new situation.

In its updated travel advice, the UK Government said: "From October 21, 2022, all Covid travel restrictions for travellers to Spain have been lifted." The changes mean:

  • You are no longer required to show proof of being fully vaccinated
  • You are no longer required to show proof of a negative Covid test
  • You are no longer required to show proof of having recovered from Covid in the last six months
  • You are no longer required to complete a health control form prior to travel

The changes come after Spain last month opted to remove the necessity for a health declaration form to be presented on arrival to Spain. Despite this, the country kept its Covid travel restrictions in place - until now.
