DIMI Petratos will join another former Newcastle Jet, Craig Goodwin, at Al-Wehda next season after the Saudi Pro League club confirmed the midfielder had passed all his medical requirments and signed until 2023.
Petratos, capped three times by the Socceroos and a member of their 2018 FIFA World Cup squad, was granted a provisional clearance by the Jets last month to make the lucrative move, but first he needed to undergo a physical assessment.
Once that formality was completed, contracts were exchanged and Petratos was cleared to start his second stint as an overseas player, after a brief stay at Korean club Ulsan Hyundai.
The Jets are expected to be paid a six-figure transfer fee for releasing their crowd-pleasing playmaker.
Petratos has played 203 A-League games for Sydney, Brisbane and the Jets.
He joined Newcastle at the start of 2017-18 and played in 79 games, scoring 22 goals.
Goodwin signed a two-season deal with Al-Wehda in July last season.
The 28-year-old left winger established himself in the A-League with Newcastle between 2012-14, making 44 appearances.
After an unsuccessful trial at English club Reading, he returned to the Jets, only to ask for a release so that he could join Adelaide, his home-town club. Like Petratos, Goodwin has been a fringe Socceroo, making five appearances for the national team.
Both are set to play against A-League teams in the Asian Champions League next season, after Al-Wehda qualified by finishing their domestic season in fourth place.
