Big sister saves boy, 5, after rope trapped in lift door hoists him up by his neck

A young girl saved her little brother after a rope caught in a lift door hoisted him up by his neck.

The five-year-old was nearly hanged as he was dragged up by the moving cabin.

The incident happened yesterday morning in Başakşehir, Instanbul, Turkey.

The three children were thought to be playing a game in a community garden when they entered the lift, according to Haber Turk.

The boy followed his youngest sister into the elevator - with the rope dragging behind him.

As the doors closed, it trapped the rope, and as the lift went down the child was dragged up into the air.

His limbs went stiff and he gasped for air as his eldest sister hit the emergency button and held the boy's legs to stop him from suffocating.

Thankfully her quick thinking saved his life.

According to local press, the boy is said to be doing well and has recovered from the shocking incident.
