Big queues as customers return to Nottingham Primark after lockdown

Customers began queuing from 6am outside Nottingham's Primark today - two hours before the store opened its doors for the first time in three months.

As predicted a lengthy queue tailed back as far as Subway this morning in readiness for the shop in Long Row reopening today at 8am.

While the rest of the city slept the first in the queue were Jade Dawson, 28, and Kylie Baker, 31, both from Sneinton.

Jade said: “We got here at about 6am and we thought we were going to be at the back of the queue.

"We woke up at 5am. When we got here it was so quiet, no one was here for 10 minutes.

“There was speculation on Facebook people were camping out. But really we came because it’s a bit of normality and we were excited to do something normal.

“I’m going to try to keep to a budget of £200. I never try anything on anyway so the changing rooms being closed don’t bother me. I feel pretty safe with all the measures they’ve brought in”

The chain has brought in a strict social distancing protocol, personal protection for employees and customers, and increased in-store cleaning.

Customers were asked to use hand sanitiser at the entrance.

Victoria Centre was still quiet at 8am this morning but a queue also formed outside Sports Direct in Clumber Street.
