Big queue at Spanish City as Trenchers serves up £1 fish and chips

There was a massive reaction to our story on the deal, so it was little surprise that a big queue formed outside Trenchers as the Spanish City chippy sold cut price fish and chips on Friday evening.

Good Friday is still just a week away but many people were keen on getting their fish and chip fix early and thankfully the weather was good for the great number who lined up in time for the £1 cod and chips deal starting at 5pm.

Trenchers announced the offer earlier this week to a wealth of comments and shares on Facebook, and the response was borne out in the amount of people who lined up at Spanish City to get a taste of the action.

The promotion was launched to mark the fact that Trenchers' takeaway is now open 7 days a week. Trenchers of Whitby was recently crowned the UK’s Best Fish & Chip Restaurant 2019.

There was a bit of small print. The portions were restricted to 4 per customer and only 400 available.

The £1 giveaway was meant to run until 8pm, but judging by our pictures, we don't think there'll be many, if any, left by then!
