Big night out! Long lost pictures from Greater Manchester's clubland

These old clubbing pictures from the M.E.N vault show revellers at some of Greater Manchester’s most popular club nights.

The snaps, largely taken between 2005 and 2011, show clubbers at a range of venues across the region.

Poptastic, Sankeys, Livingstones and Preacher’s all make an appearance.

Sankeys

This iconic Manchester dance club, in Ancoats, closed in 2017, but the brand lives on. As do the hazy memories of many Manchester clubbers who frequented Beehive Mill over the years.

Livingstone's, Oldham

This nightclub, close to Oldham Coliseum, was a popular hotspot for clubbers in the town.

Preacher’s nightclub, Macclesfield

Do you recognise yourself in these snaps taken at the popular Macclesfield club?

Bollox, Manchester

A stalwart of the alternative queer clubbing scene, Bollox is still going strong. Back in 2011 it was still based at its original home, Legends.

Avici White, Manchester

This basement nightclub on Deansgate attracted hordes of clubbers each weekend.

Poptastic, Manchester

Home to tequila slushie shots, smoke machines and a range of pop and indie bangers, this picture shows clubnight Poptastic back in its heyday in 2011.

The Ritz, Manchester

Home to the famous bouncing dance floor, The Ritz has always been known for drawing big name bands and musicians as well as for its packed out club nights.

Heaven and Hell, Stockport

This venue, slap bang in the middle of town at Grand Central, played music catering for a variety of tastes, as the name would suggest.

Joshua Brooks, Manchester

Pub by day, club by night, this bare brick venue has played host to DJs and musicians from across a wide spectrum of genres over the years.

42nd Street, Manchester

42s has been a Manchester student institution for as long as anyone can remember.

Club Venus, Manchester

This club was at the heart of the city's house music scene for almost two decades before eventually closing in 2018.

Satan’s Hollow, Manchester

Punks, goths, rockers and moshers still unite at this sweaty nightclub, which is known for the huge statue of Beelzebub that looms over the bar.
