Big Nate Lives It Up by Lincoln Peirce – review

The people who will like this book are people who are interested in friendship, hatred, humour and comics. Big Nate Lives It Up is about a boy called Nate. He is living an ordinary life, hanging out with his friends, having fun and all sorts. But things slowly change when he meets Breckenridge Puffington III.

One day, Nate is called into Principal Nichols’s office and is told that there is a new boy arriving in school called Breckenridge. Nate isn’t really bothered but then Principal Nichols announces that Nate has to be his new buddy. Things become different then, because suddenly Nate has the feeling that he has seen this kid somewhere before.

Big Nate

My favourite part of the comic was when Nate finally found out where he had seen Breckenridge before; but that will remain a secret to all you people who are anxiously waiting to read this book.

This book is mostly for people who are into humour and like comedy. I am not one of them but I still giggled at some of the jokes I read. This book is also packed with adventure, when Nate goes on a scavenger hunt with his friends (and Breckenridge of course) against his rival, Randy.

The author has made the book humorous but also packed it with friendship, which should make the reader have mixed emotions.

I would definitely recommend this book for kids over nine.
