Richard Madeley was left baffled this morning as Big Narstie mistook the Good Morning Britain presenter as a Coronation Street actor.
The rapper, who had apparently not had any sleep before appearing on the breakfast programme, was convinced that Richard was really Nigel Havers.
Narstie was appearing on the daytime show with Jamaican singer Spice to speak about their collaboration - but the segment was dominated by the singer’s bizarre claims.
Richard started the interview asking Big Narstie to repeat what he’d asked during the break, to which the rapper went into a bizarre ramble.
“You’re the Coronation Street man, I thought you were the Coronation Street man, but someone just said you were originally on GMTV,” he said.
Perplexed, Richard sat shaking his head, and replied: “I’m not from Coronation Street mate.”
Co-host Ranvir Singh then had a lightbulb moment and realised that Big Narstie was mistaking Richard for Nigel Havers, who played Lewis Archer on the cobbles up until his on-screen death earlier this year.
“He thinks you’re Nigel Havers,” she said, helpfully.
As the penny dropped, Richard finally understood what Narstie was on about.
As a photo of Nigel popped up on screen, Ranvir asked the sleepy singer: “Do you think he is him?”
“Yeah, yeah! It’s the jaw, you have the stiffest jaw,” a delighted Narstie replied.
As the two faces were put next to each other on screen so viewers could compare, Ranvir said: “Sorry to disappoint you, this is Richard Madeley and not Nigel Havers.”
Richard said he could “only apologise”, adding, “I’m not an actor.”
While some viewers were delighted with the comparison, others were not impressed.
One said: “I think this Big Narstie has been on a few sherbets before the show, Richard as Nigel Havers? Oh please poor ole Nigel... LOL.”
Another said: “Yet more car crash TV from GMB.”
