Big move coming? Bears free up $11 million in cap space

The Chicago Bears have been lying in wait through the first day or so of free agency, agreeing to minor deals with  RB Mike Davis and nickel CB Buster Skrine.

And while both moves are solid additions to the roster, neither has the headline-grabbing punch of what GM Ryan Pace did last year with Allen Robinson and Trey Burton.

But is a bigger move coming?

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Bears freed up $11 million in cap space by converting a large chunk of Khalil Mack’s salary and roster into a signing bonus.

The extra $11 million in cap space may be just what Chicago needs to add a bigger free agent, like, say, Le’Veon Bell?

Pace obviously didn’t make this cap decision to re-sign his own. Adrian Amos is already a Packer and there’s been radio silence on the status of Bryce Callahan.

Something’s coming, Bears fans. It’ll just take some time before we know what that something is.
