Big month for Hamilton as business rep explains how residents can support the town this August

Lanarkshire has been enjoying the freedom of Level 0 in recent weeks, which has allowed more local firms to bring in more business as we slowly ease out of lockdown restrictions.

But August is a huge month for Hamilton residents to support each other, says Hamilton BID manager Malcolm Thomas-Harley who explains how we can all do our bit to help the town in the upcoming weeks.

The business rep is providing a monthly column telling readers what’s happening in Hamilton; the work of many local businesses; and how we can all support the community.

Malcolm has gotten to know many of the people behind Hamilton’s shops, cafés, bars, hairdressers and a whole range of local firms.

Malcolm told Lanarkshire Live this month: "We know that many people are now shopping online and are perhaps out of their previous routine of visiting the town for shopping and meeting friends."

To support our businesses we are launching a brand new market in the heart of the town centre along Quarry Street every Saturday in August featuring around 25 – 30 stalls.

We really need the support of the whole town by getting into Hamilton starting August 7 from 10am – 4pm if you can.

What makes this market really special is that it’s led by the businesses in the town through Hamilton BID. We have the likes of Henderson’s the butcher, What In Carnation Flowers, Gondolina Pizza and many more high quality town centre businesses offering something different on their stall.

We’ve teamed up with SHS stall hire who run Loch Lomond Shore market to compliment the town centre businesses rather than competing by delivering a diverse, bespoke and artisan offering alongside our businesses.

As well as the stalls we have organised lots of family friendly fun including face painters, circus performers a kids trail and much more to entertain you on the day.

This market has the added benefit of being really handy for visiting the town centre businesses.

Why not grab a coffee and pick your back to school supplies on the day too?

Please support our town and visit the Hamilton Market this August on Quarry Street. Thanks for reading.

Please note that Quarry Street will be closed on Market days to traffic from 8am.
