Big Little Lies' Shailene Woodley in 'no rush' to marry after sharing secret engagement

They confirmed their intent to tie the knot earlier this year, but following a private engagement, it seems Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers haven't yet started planning their wedding.

The Divergent actress revealed she's in "no rush" to walk down the aisle to marry Green Bay Packers quarterback in a new interview about her blissful relationship.

The 29-year-old has been rumoured to have been dating the NFL star since July last year, with the couple only alluding to an engagement in February 2021.

Confirming the proposal earlier this month, Shailene revealed the pair kept their engagement news private for "months and months" in an attempt to " live in our little bubble" a little while longer.

Speaking recently with Entertainment Tonight, the star opened up a little more about her future nuptials - hinting that the sound of wedding bells might be a while off.

“There’s no wedding planning happening,” she told the publication when quizzed on her marriage plans.

“There’s no rush. We’ve got no rush.”

Instead, the actress and the 37-year-old sports star are simply “enjoying” spending time together and being engaged.

The couple's engagement status first become public knowledge when Aaron confessed he had popped the question to someone in February 2021 - assumed to be Shailene despite not naming her as his fiancée.

The Fault in Our Stars actress confirmed the rumours shortly, admitting that that the loved-up couple had kept the joyous news private for a while.

“For us it’s not new news, so it’s kind of funny everybody right now is freaking out over it,” she said while appearing on The Tonight Show.

“We’re like, ‘Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while.’”

She elaborated on their decision to keep their relationship development out of the media at first when chatting with the Hollywood Reporter.

“When we announced that we were engaged, we wanted to do that only because we didn’t want someone else to do it before we did,” she explained.

“And we didn’t do it for months and months after we had become engaged, but the reaction to it was really a lot, and so we were like, ‘Let’s just politely decline [to talk about the relationship] for a little while and live in our little bubble.’”

In September last year, the Green Bay Packers star credited the 29-year-old actress for his new love for life while chatting on the Pat McAfee Show.

"I've made decisions and changes and habits that put me in a lot better headspace and there's just a lot of things that have come together in my life over the last few months that have really been enjoyable," the athlete explained, without naming Shailene directly.

He continued: "That's why I'm having so much fun and it starts with love. And then surrounding yourself with people that you really enjoy."
