Novelty hagoita wooden paddles bearing the faces of 2018 -- including Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels, second from right, and tennis star Naomi Osaka, right -- are unveiled on Wednesday at traditional doll manufacturer Kyugetsu Co.'s store in Taito Ward, Tokyo. Since 1986, the company has released hagoita paddles every December featuring the year's most famous faces. This year's selection includes two-time Olympic figure skating champion Yuzuru Hanyu and Namie Amuro, who retired from her singing career in September.
