Big-hearted Scots boy offers XBox and free games to a family struggling this Christmas

A big-hearted Scots boy has offers his XBox and all games for free to a family struggling this Christmas.

Generous schoolboy Alex Campbell made the incredible gesture yesterday after realising not all children will be as fortunate as him this year.

The eight-year-old's dad, also called Alex, said he came in from school and just asked him and mum  Lynn, 34, if he would be allowed to donate the console, controllers and games including Minecraft and Lego Dimensions, which are worth around £300.

Alex, 31, who also has daughter Olivia, 10, Harry, five and two-year-old Joey, said: "He got is last year for Christmas but he also has a PlayStation so the XBox One doesn't get used as much.

"I don't know if he has been hearing or reading about people less fortunate than himself at school, but whatever triggered it, he just came home and asked me and his mum if he would be able to give it away.

"Obviously we were absolutely beaming with pride. Not all kids would be that generous or kind, but Alex has always been a really thoughtful and kind wee boy."

Alex and Lynn didn't know anyone offhand who might need a console so they took to their social media pages to appeal for anyone in need.

Alex, from Irvine in Ayrshire, said the response was incredible.

"As soon as we posted it, the comments and shares were amazing. People were saying the wee man was brilliant for being so kind and I was inundated with private messages from people who have been struggling this year."

Alex says one particular message really hit home from a family in need and he has donated the XBox to them.

He said: "They just have had a tough time so it seemed right to give them it. I am hoping to take the wee man with me when I hand it over so he can see the effect of his good deed."
