Big-hearted primary school kids brave 'wee sleep out'

Big-hearted pupils from local schools braved a night away from home recently, in the name of charity.

Youngsters from Renton’s St Martin’s Primary and counterparts from St Mary’s in Alexandria completed the feat to raise awareness of homelessness.

They camped out at an event in Renton Bowling Club on Friday night to highlight the plight.

The pupils – from primaries five, six and seven – had been learning about homelessness and how communities can help as part of a school project before taking part in the ‘Wee Sleep Out’ event.

They were joined beforehand by fellow pupils, who helped raise funds by making a donation to attend.

Party games, face painting and a DJ were laid on before the senior pupils camped out at the venue to raise money for homelessness charity Social Bite, which is behind the famed ‘Big Sleep Out events taking place in towns and cities throughout the globe annually.
