Big hearted nursery children and staff raise over £1000 for St John's Hospital

Children and staff at a Bathgate nursery have raised over £1000 for the breast care unit at St John’s.

Kids at Early Steps Nursery baked cakes and sold them to parents and employees at the Pyramids Business Park, where the nursery is based.

The Little Paws under-3s raised money by completing an obstacle course and the older Big Paws children and after-school kids took part in a danceathon.

Owner Carol Armstrong and some of the staff took daily walks around the perimeter, testing the obstacle course and outdoor gym equipment on their way.

And each day they were splatted with paint by the children just to finish things off.

The children presented Becky Gallagher, a Macmillan nurse specialist, with a cheque for a £1375.

Carol said: “We hope that this goes some way to help the breast care unit continue to offer support and comfort.

“They do an outstanding job. They welcome you with open arms and do everything in their power to make sure you get what you need.”

She thanked everyone who supported the fundraising.
