Selfless Irvine woman Theresa Crawley made a grand gesture at her 90th birthday party – by raising £1,000 for Alzheimer Scotland.
The caring pensioner celebrated her special day at the Three Craws pub on Dickson Drive with her nearest and dearest on Saturday, October 2.
Theresa went without presents this year in aid of a charity close to her heart.
She told Ayrshire Live: "We had about 100 guests come out on the day. It was a great day and I can't thank everyone enough who donated.
"My sister Margaret had Alzheimer's and I looked after her for a wee while until she moved to England to be with her children.
"And I've had an awful lot of friends who have died from Alzheimer's."
Theresa, who has lived in Irvine all of her life, had already raised money for charity a decade earlier on her 80th birthday.
She added: "I did the same on my 80th for couple of charities; Alzheimer's, MS – which my niece has – osteoporosis and the British Heart Foundation.
"I raised about £700 so I've done even better this decade!"
The mum-of-two shared her pearls of wisdom after reaching her birthday milestone.
She said: "There's no secret to living to a long life but my advice would be to work as long as you can.
"I was a buyer for Bowman fashions and Iater worked in the Magnum bar.
"I had to retire at 65 but I love my garden, that keeps me busy, and my birthday cake was an edible version of my garden.
"It was a great day and I want to say thank you to all who donated, my friends, relations and neighbours."
