Trainee lawyers have caused a sleaze storm at a top college after “rating” their female colleagues.
Law Society bosses on Thursday slammed “highly offensive” messages in the WhatsApp group “Tits and Filth”.
As the issue is investigated, members were warned their careers could be in jeopardy.
The group was used to rate trainees at the Blackhall Place campus in Dublin but did not involve the sharing of naked images or videos.
A source said last night: “A woman found out about the messages and confronted one lad.
“He quickly deleted the group but there are still screenshots and some of the content has upset some people.
“The messages have been reported. There’s a big group of lads involved and they would be going to events and on nights out with some of the women. The group are a new bunch of trainees that have only recently started.”
In an email to students seen by The Irish Mirror, Director of Education TP Kennedy, said: “This will not be tolerated and has no place on a professional training course.
"Trainees are subject to the same rules as practising solicitors regarding ethical behaviour.
"Posting inappropriate conduct may raise concerns as to whether any trainee involved might be a ‘fit and proper person to be admitted as a solicitor’.”
A spokeswoman for The Law Society of Ireland said yesterday: “We are appalled to learn that inappropriate comments may have been posted on a private messaging group.
“The Society takes these allegations extremely seriously and, if they are proven to be true, disciplinary action will be taken.”
