'Big changes ahead' - Bristol City fans point finger of blame as Robins' damaging form continues

Frustration is, once again, slowly giving way to fury as Bristol City's 2-1 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers has amped up pressure on the club, team and management as what appeared, at best, a mediocre season is now becoming something much worse.

The Robins were, in the main, outplayed by the Chairboys who, in mitigation have by far the smallest budget in the division, but are the consensus worst team in the Championship.

And yet City were made to look like that very outfit with the jarring statistic arriving at full-time that, in the last 30 matches, no team has taken fewer points (27) then the men in red, both under Nigel Pearson and his predecessor Dean Holden.

Pearson's record is now beginning raise fresh questions with just nine points taken from a possible 33 since he formally took charge and with three games of the campaign remaining, given Rotherham's games in hand, City's Championship status for next season still isn't secure.

After the game, Pearson highlighted a concerning lack of commitment, teamwork and professionalism within some of his players; an observations he was almost embarrassed and surprised to make.

But it's also not the first time he's said words to that effect and it's clear this team, and many of the individuals within, are simply not functioning anywhere near their optimum level.

As a result, the men on the field have received the majority of the ire of the fans with questions of their quality, attitude and willingness to remain at the football club.

With a summer of change ahead, in the dugout, boardroom and on the field, many need to raise their performance levels to have a hope of staying at Ashton Gate.

Judging by the reaction across social media, that won't be too many as trust and faith in the first-team squad is at the lowest its been for years. Plus there is beginning to be a change of view towards Pearson and his suitability long-term ...

City take on Luton Town at Ashton Gate on Sunday with a chance to right the wrongs of Adams Park and Pearson's team selection could reveal his feelings towards many of his under-performing stats.

That being said, such are City's injury issues with nine players out of the season and a clutch still not 100% match fit, he may have to turn once more to the academy to fix the team's ills.
