Big change to Tesco Clubcard means free delivery for some customers

Tesco is making a major change to its Clubcard scheme meaning some customers will be able to get free delivery.

The move will allow the supermarket to tackle Amazon, which is rolling out free grocery delivery across the UK.

Tesco free delivery will be available to Clubcard Plus loyalty scheme customers - who pay £7.99 a month for the enhanced scheme.

Clubcard Plus has a number of benefits already in place - including up to 10 per cent off shopping twice a month to a set value.

It is not yet known when the free delivery scheme will be rolled put, reports The Mirror.

Amazon Prime’s no-charge delivery is up and running and will be rolled out nationwide by the end of the year.

The online retailer has also said it will speed up delivery times to make same-day delivery available to UK grocery customers in some parts of the country.

New and existing customers subscribing to Amazon Prime are now able to order groceries through Amazon Fresh, with free delivery on orders over £40.

Amazon Prime costs £7.99 a month which gives you Prime Delivery: Unlimited One-Day Delivery, Same-Day Delivery, and 2-Hour Delivery with Prime Now in select residential postcodes, as well as Prime Video: Unlimited streaming of Movies, TV shows, and Amazon Originals.

Amazon said the move will start with abut 300 postcodes, focused around London and the South East, with the service expanding to millions more by the end of the year.
