Big change on Nottingham tram network that passengers need to know about

Nottingham's tram network has announced an "increased visibility" of conductors who will be checking to see if people have paid for a fare.

Passengers using the NET Tram network must ensure they have a validated smart card or purchased a ticket from the machine or app before they board.

Anyone caught without a valid ticket or pass may be liable for a £50 fine.

More conductors will be operating across the network to check tickets, the tram operator confirmed.

NET tweeted: "Our revenue protection team have increased their visibility on their network, please make sure you've bought your ticket before boarding."

It comes as the Lace Market tram stop is closed due to track works between April 29 and May 10.

Trams are terminating at the Old Market Square from Hucknall/ Phoenix Park.

Trams from Toton Lane/ Clifton South will terminate at the Nottingham Station.

The final tram to receive a makeover left NET’s Wilkinson Street depot on Monday, March 22 (NET)

There is a bus replacement service available between the Royal Centre and Nottingham Station. NET says staff are available to advise passengers at the stops concerned.

And concerns were raised over the state of Nottingham's tram system as companies behind the network reported tens of millions of pounds in losses.

Accounts for various groups behind Tramlink Nottingham show losses totalling almost £50 million for the year ending March 2020.
