Big cat proof? Claw marks the size of adult's hand found in Easton garden

Claw marks the size of an adult's hand have been found in an Easton garden after the owner heard strange noises.

Ben Fowkes' shared several photographs of markings that he thinks could be evidence a big cat entered his yard on Wednesday night (March 3).

The 36-year-old heard a 'crashing' noise around 11pm. When he looked out of his window, the commercial director noticed several broken plant pots but did not investigate.

In the morning, he went into his garden and discovered the indentations, along with long hairs.

"What domestic animal in the UK can leave claw marks the size of your hand?" he said. "I've never been interested in big cats, or anything like that, but this is weird."

He added: "I heard a crashing noise just as I was going to bed, but I thought it was just something from the bathroom and didn't worry about it. But then 20 seconds later I heard it again and realised it was coming from outside.

"I looked out the window and saw some broken plant pots, but I've watched enough horror films not to go outside.

"I forgot all about it until I went outside the following day and saw the claw marks."

Ben has kept some of the hair in case an expert could use them to decipher what animal they came found.

In May last year, a woman claims she saw a big cat, the size of a Labrador, while out walking her dog in the countryside near Bristol.

Lynda Elliott a 54 year old civil servant enjoys spotting wildlife in the fields and woods around her home in Emerson’s Green near Pucklechurch, she was expecting to see deer, not a large animal 'the size of black Labrador.

During the same month, three sisters are convinced they saw a big cat while walking near Robinswood Hill, Gloucestershire.

Veterinary student Samreen Inam, 19, of Abbeydale, said: "We were walking home from our walk and we turned left on to the path then we saw the animal and it was only about 70 metres away.

“We could have only seen it for around three seconds at most."

She described the animal as black with rounded ears and a long tail, like a very large domestic cat.
