More than $40 million worth of cannabis has been seized after six people were arrested in police raids.

Almost 100kg of cannabis and more than 8000 plants were discovered after detectives targeted a "major international drug syndicate" in southeast Queensland, police say.

An unlawful citizen was among five people arrested on Monday in a raid on a rural property at Coominya, west of Brisbane.

Police said they uncovered a large cannabis production facility, seizing 8253 plants and 27kg of dried cannabis and dismantling 24 grow houses.

Three women and two men, aged in their 30s and 50s, attempted to leave on foot before being arrested, police said.

A 50-year-old woman was arrested after another raid at Inala in Brisbane's south on Monday where about 67kg of cannabis was found, police said.

All six people have been remanded in custody and were set to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The police operation removed 94kg of cannabis worth $42 million from the streets, Acting Detective Superintendent Brad Phelps said.

"The disruption of this cannabis production facility and safe house will impact the organised crime syndicate behind this offending," he said.

"It will remove a lucrative income stream for organised crime who continue to attempt to profit though the production and trafficking of cannabis."

Police said more arrests are likely.
