A Royal Navy sailor has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman after he slapped her bottom “on a daily basis”.
Edinburgh-born leading warfare specialist Andrew Hallimond, 38, of HMS Richmond in Plymouth, was convicted of the charge of sexual assault which involved four incidents of slapping her bottom.
A Bulford Military Court officer said he was cleared of three other charges of sexual assault, one of which alleged he had grabbed the woman’s breasts at a basketball match.
The victim said as well as slapping her, Hallimond made “constant innuendos”, such as calling her “big bum” and asking her to show her underwear.
The defendant, who the court heard had “developed a rather unhealthy interest” in the woman, will be sentenced on March 27.
