Big Brother star Brian Dowling says he helped friend Nadia Forde during pregnancy by drinking her alcohol

Big Brother star Brian Dowling has revealed that he helped out pal Nadia Forde while she was pregnant – by drinking any alcoholic beverages sent her way.

He made the revelation during a chat on his Briantini Time online talk show, which he broadcasts on Instagram.

The pair met when doing they both appeared in the panto Aladdin in 2016.

However due to Covid it had been a while since they had a catch up, so Brian invited her on to the show.

Briantini Time sees the Kildare native chat with friends as they make and drink his signature Briantini cocktail, so needless to say the conversation quickly turned to alcohol – or rather Nadia’s lack of it.

The 32-year-old I’m A Celebrity star said that she’s not a big drinker as the pair made the cocktail virtually from their respective homes, in keeping with Covid restrictions.

This then led to the story of a trip to Blackpool in 2018 when Nadia had just found out she was pregnant.

She said to Brian: “I hadn't told anyone and you just knew and I was like ‘how’?”

Brian acknowledged this and revealed he offered to drink any alcohol sent her way during the boozy trip.

“I was like ‘I’ve got your back, don’t worry’.” he said. He then explained that because she doesn’t really imbibe, people thought nothing of him picking up her drink and throwing it back.

Broadcaster and presenter Maia Dunphy, who was watching, seemed impressed with his efforts commenting “Taking one for the team Brian.”

Nadia also admitted she was convinced that everyone knew her secret on that trip, saying: “When you’re pregnant you just think everyone must know. And of course they don’t. Now I look back and wonder what I was thinking!”

Nadia gave birth to a baby girl Wyatt with her husband Dominic Day in October 2018.

During the chat she also briefly discussed the new show she is working on The Lido set in the world of Irish chips shops and revealed that her first job was actually working in her family chipper.

“I want to say it was illegal,” she laughed. I’m pretty sure my Granny had me working in the shop at about eight years of age.”
