Big Brother set to return in 2023 - but Davina and Rylan will miss out

Big Brother will make a triumphant return to our screens in 2023.

The 'original' reality show aired for 18 years until coming off the air, and made household names out of the likes of 'Nasty' Nick Bateman, Jade Goody, Nikki Grahame and our own Brian Dowling.

Having initially aired on Channel 4 during it's peak and Channel 5 in the final few series of its first run, ITV2 will be the new home of the iconic show from next year, with a teaser clip airing during the final of Love Island on Monday evening.

A “Big Brother for the Love Island generation” is planned to be shown on ITV2 from next year.

Big Brother is making an explosive return to ITV2 and ITVX with a teaser trailer released during the Love Island 2022 final (ITV)

A press release from ITV says that a new cast of "carefully selected housemates" will enter the famous reality TV house.

The housemates will be from "all walks of life" and will spend six weeks inside the lavish residence.

But it left many questioning who would have one of the most important roles - hosting the show?

Most people will think Davina McCall as she fronted the series during its' heyday, while Ryaln Clark-Neal, Emma Willis and Brian Dowling have all given it a shot as well.

Rylan Clark has shown his interest in being the host for the show's revival (PA)

But according to the Mirror, none of them will be considered for the new series.

"The action will all play out under the roof of the iconic Big Brother house, which will be given its own contemporary new look ready for this reimagining of the show," says ITV.

"Clever tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions will be back, with the public once again playing a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life changing cash prize."
