Big Brother’s Vinnie Says He’s ‘Shocked’ By Australia’s Reaction To One Housemate

Big Brother's Vinnie / Colin

After perhaps one of the most brutal eliminations in reality TV history, Vinnie Brigante has officially left the Big Brother house and re-entered society.

The 21-year-old barber-slash-singer-slash-former Deal or No Deal contestant (what a resume) made it 24 days in the social experiment, blissfully unaware of what the nation thought of him and his fellow housemates.

Following his exit, Vinnie has admitted to PEDESTRIAN.TV that he’s yet to binge the entire series but has seen a bunch of clips on socials.

In doing so, he’s discovered that one of his closest pals in the Big Brother house has been perceived completely differently by the Australian public than what he imagined.

Big Brother‘s Vinnie is ‘really shocked’ by what Australia thinks of Conor

Vinnie said that he’s completely surprised by how viewers have reacted to disability advocate Conor Maysey, who has Tourette’s.

“I really didn’t think Conor would be perceived as annoying as Australia has perceived him as,” he revealed.

“I really, really, really got along with Conor in the house, and I thought he was a really beautiful soul, a beautiful man. He’s got a story to tell, his Tourette’s advocacy is really beautiful and he’s going to make a lot of impact with disability.

“But obviously in the house, he’s a very loud voice in terms of his opinions are very strong and what you see is what you get with him. It’s very admirable, but I guess Australia can take that in a way that can be seen another way as well, which I was really shocked to see.”

Vinnie reveals who he would’ve made Head Housemate

While Vinnie’s unique eviction in the final week didn’t allow for him to choose a new Head Housemate — who is in charge of allocating chores, controlling the weekly shop and becomes immune from eviction — he revealed that he would’ve put Emily Dale in the role.

“I think Emily’s a beautiful soul and she wouldn’t step on an ant if it was in front of her,” he said about the school teacher.

“I think that would have been funny in terms of her just delegating tasks and having to put people up for noms and stuff. That just would have been really good TV, and as a fan, I think that would have been funny to watch.”

He added that he knew Emily would be a huge threat from early on, even if his co-stars might not agree.

“I gave her votes very early, and I said it as a pure strategy thing that she will fly under the radar,” he said about the school teacher.

“People in the house genuinely loved her. She was Switzerland, she was perfectly impartial, she would give people her ear, but she wasn’t brutal with her opinions.

“Emily, naturally, should be a fan favourite. She’s a beautiful soul, and I’m glad that people see her that way.”

Emily narrowly avoided nomination in Wednesday night’s episode and has advanced to Monday’s finale alongside Allana Jackson and Bruce Dunne. It’s unclear how many people will be evicted before then, but if Vinnie’s eviction is anything to go by, we can expect things will be pretty brutal.

Big Brother Australia is on Monday to Friday at 7.30pm and Sundays at 7pm. Watch and live stream 24/7 on 10 or on TikTok @bigbrotherau.
