Big Brother's Glyn Wise says he prayed to get on show as he discusses joining priesthood

This Morning viewers were treated to a blast from the past on Thursday, as Big Brother legend Glyn Wise was reunited with Dermot O'Leary - who used to host the spin-off series, Big Brother's Little Brother.

Big Brother seven favourite Glyn looked very different to his younger days, with him just 18 years old when he shot to fame in the famous compound.

Now 34 years old, the star reflected on his time on the show and how it changed his life for ever.

But something that never changed was his faith, and now Glyn has revealed all on being accepted to train for the ordained ministry with the Church in Wales.

Glyn revealed how he had a very religious upbringing and has had his faith for a long time, but people weren't aware of it - hence why many were surprised by his latest life direction.

But the reality TV star, who shared the screen with late housemate Nikki Grahame, even revealed he used his faith to pray to get a spot on the famous show.

More recently, Glyn revealed his faith helped him to reach out to Nikki's mother Sue after Nikki's death in 2021.

Explaining his decision to train as a priest, he told Dermot and co-host Alison Hammond: "I grew up in a religious family, I was baptised and went to Sunday school as a kid. But I prayed my way into Big Brother.

"I was asking God, 'Can you please just get me into the Big Brother house?'. I also went on holiday to Ireland and kissed the Blarney Stone as well, like 'can I go into Big Brother please?'."

On his new life direction, he said: "I went travelling a lot, and I became a teacher first of all for four or five years in the UK. Then I thought I'd like to teach abroad, and ended up in China, I did all of South East Asia.

"Christianity is growing on a massive scale in South East Asia, so I went to church there, and even other teachers were like do you want to come to Bible study class. I grew in faith as I went along with that.

"The pastor or priest was talking and I felt like everything he was saying was direly to me, and what was amazing was they were bringing the Bible into 2022, making relevance to every walk of life and that's what I'd like to bring forward."

Adding he wants to make church accessible for everyone and make it a "safe space", he confessed he prayed before going on the show on Thursday, in the hope people wouldn't be negative about him online.

He said: "I prayed before coming actually... there's consequences for every action and [for them] not to judge and not to put stuff out there. Treat your neighbours how you want to be treated as it says in the Bible."

Glyn also reflected on the loss of Nikki, saying: "Do you know what we did a Requiem service for Nikki, and I know she’s passed away but every time I think of her I smile, I laugh.

"She was such a great energy. I sent a message to her mother because I know her mother is a woman of faith as well, and so that kind of helped her through.

"I know Nikki will be looking down on us and smiling and laughing now."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
