Sunny takes care of Yaya
We know our brothers and sisters love us. But sometimes they can go too far. The new romantic comedy from GDH, Nong Pi Theerak (Brother of the Year), takes a funny look at the problem of an older brother interfering in his sister’s life.
Coming out on May 10, Brother of the Year stars Sunny Suwanmethanont, 36, Urassaya Sperbund (Yaya), 25, and Nichkhun Horvejkul, 29. On April 4, the three leads attended a press conference at The Emquartier along with director Witthaya Thongyooyong (Ball) and producers Jira Maligool (Keng) and Vanridee Pongsittisak (Van).
Here are some highlights from the interview.

What’s the film about?
Van: Sunny and Yaya play Chuck and Jane, a brother and sister who leave their home in the countryside and move to Bangkok. It’s their first time living away from their parents. Chuck is a bit of a loser, but he doesn’t realise it. Jane is much more capable. He becomes overprotective whenever guys hit on her. So when Jane starts a relationship with Moji, played by Nichkhun, she decides to hide it from Chuck.
Why did you choose these actors for the movie?
Van: This film was written for Sunny. If he hadn’t accepted the role, we wouldn’t have made it. Yaya is a very talented actress and we felt that she was right for the character. We worked with Nichkhun on Seven Something. He’s a true professional. The leads had great chemistry.
Can you tell us about your characters?
Sunny: Chuck would be a great person - if he were the only person in the world.
Yaya: Jane is a perfectionist who loves her family. She always tries to push her brother to do better.
Nichkhun: Moji is a well-mannered young man. He’s a bit of nerd and a perfectionist like Jane.
Nichkhun, you have a sister. Are you an overprotective brother?
Nichkhun: A bit. When she heard about the movie, she sent me a message warning me what goes around comes around. Now I understand how scary it can be to have an overprotective brother.
Do you have a message for the fans?
Yaya: This is my first film. It made me appreciate my family even more. I think that everybody will leave the cinema with a smile on their face.
Nichkhun: The three of us are a perfect combination in this movie. Make sure you go to the cinema so you can see for yourself!
