Richard Norton-Taylor and Stuart Millar of the Guardian have won Winstons (named after the hero of Orwell's 1984) in this year's Big Brother awards, organised by pressure group Privacy International. The prizes are for their coverage last year of the government's plans, later scrapped, to hand information about your internet activity to all sorts of public agencies. Most of the other awards, to be presented tonight in London, go to those who have done most to damage the cause of privacy in the last year. Take a bow, Capita, for being most invasive company; David Blunkett takes the less-than-coveted Dog Poo On A Stick award. The Register has the full story.
