Big boost for Frank Lampard as Mason Mount returns to training ahead of Chelsea vs Liverpool

Chelsea and Frank Lampard have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of Sunday's game against Liverpool.

The big news is that midfielder Mason Mount trained with the first-team on Friday.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Blues head coach did confirm that the 20-year-old was in with a chance of facing the Reds despite limping off early against Valencia in the Champions League in midweek.

"He has got a chance. We saw the image of the tackle made it look bad," Lampard said about Mount during his pre-match press conference .

"We are trying to get him moving today, I will have to make the call before the game.

"His attitude is good so he will give everything to play.

"There was a lot of swelling, didn’t look the best, if there is proper damage you can't do much.

"We won’t take any risks, there is a bigger picture, we will do our best."

And it would appear that Mount is winning his battle to be fit for the big game against the Premier League leaders at Stamford Bridge.

Mount was not pictured in the training pictures at Cobham on Friday, but thanks to a behind the scenes video uploaded to the club's YouTube page, the midfielder can be seen moving freely.

In addition, N'Golo Kante - absent from the last four games across all competitions - could make his return from injury on Sunday.

"It is a boost, we know the importance of him," Lampard added. "The question is how fit he is. He has played a couple of games, but he missed pre-season.

"Istanbul was miraculous. Now we have to manage him. I am delighted to work with him and if he can bring a positive for us then I will take it into consideration."
