After the Atlanta Braves won the World Series this past season, they called on legendary rapper Big Boi to perform at their celebration.
Big Boi, who rose to fame as one half of the music duo Outkast, has had an illustrious career. Alongside Andre 3000, he released six studio albums and he has had an impressive and prolific solo career as well.
During a recent appearance on the fashion podcast Throwing Fits, Big Boi was asked to reflect on how his performance after the World Series stacked up in comparison to other career accomplishments.
“This is up there with winning Album of the Year, the Grammy, and performing at the Super Bowl. It’s the same thing. It’s for the city. The last time we won the World Series is when we first started [Outkast] … Now, on the heels of coming out with this Big Boi, Sleepy Brown album, it’s a great way to kick it off.”
Big Boi added that the experience of celebrating alongside so many people from his town made his performance an especially surreal experience:
“It was great. It was great, man. The whole city was out. It was a million people out in the streets. The whole city was lined with Atlanta’s finest. There was positive energy on a thousand.”
