A big black cat claimed to be the 'size of a large dog' was spotted roaming the East Yorkshire countryside.
Footage taken in fields near Skidby shows what appears to be a large black cat, described by the man who filmed it as "much bigger than a domestic animal".
Jon Newton told Hull Live the creature was "incredibly fast" and the "size of a large dog ".
The video was taken in the East Riding village west of Cottingham on Sunday morning and comes after a spate of sightings of similar large black cats in the south west earlier this year.
Sightings of what was suspected to be either a panther or a puma were made in Cornwall in April when one man said he thought it was behind an attack on a dog and a series of domestic cats that had gone missing.
Sharing his observations from East Yorkshire, Mr Newton said: "It looked like a large black cat to us.
"Much bigger than a domestic animal though.
"It was incredibly fast, covering the length of the field very quickly.
"It was about the size of a large dog but looked and ran more like a cat.
"No idea what this is. Looks like a large cat. Seen in Skidby just now."
Earlier this year, the Mirror issued a guide for how to survive if you spot a big cat roaming through the English countryside - this included not to submit to the beasts or run.
