Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons to return for finale of Young Sheldon

It all started with the Big Bang – and it will end with Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik reprising their roles for the finale of Young Sheldon.

The spin-off from the Big Bang Theory has been showing since 2017, about the formative years of the genius protagonist with limited social skills.

Iain Armitage has starred as Sheldon over the seven series as he navigates school and leads up to the point where the main show began in 2007.

Series seven began on February 15 and CBS has confirmed that Parsons, who plays the adult Sheldon, will star in the season finale on May 16.

Young Sheldon is shown on E4 in the UK.

Parsons has additionally narrated Young Sheldon but has not featured before. Bialik plays Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon’s love interest, in the main series.

The Big Bang Theory finished in 2019.

Franchise creator Chuck Lorre told Deadline: “From The Big Bang Theory to Young Sheldon, the world of the Cooper family has been incredibly special to us.”

But this will not be the end of the road for the Big Bang Theory as CBS confirmed this week that Young Sheldon characters Georgie and Mandy will get their own spin-off series.

Montana Jordan and Emily Osment are both attached to this additional show to flesh out the lives of the supporting cast. It will be shown either later this year or next year.

Lorre added: “We're very excited to continue their stories through the eyes of Georgie and Mandy.”
