Even in a league that LeBron James has never played in, his influence and stature in the basketball world is inescapable.
In addition to last night’s Nuggets-Blazers playoff game, Wednesday night was also the draft for Ice Cube’s Big 3 3-on-3 league starring former NBA and college legends. And the first overall pick in the draft, former NBA forward Royce White, said that there aren’t many players like him.
According to White, the only two players like him with point guard skills at 6’8” 270 pounds, him and LeBron James.
It will be interesting to see the kind of debut Royce White will have in the Big 3 and if he can truthfully take the crown.
White was the 16th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft but didn’t stick in the league very long.
White’s very public battle with the NBA to develop a more coherent mental health protocol led to him not feeling safe with his first NBA team, leading him to bounce around the league before eventually playing in the Canadian National Basketball League. He was the NBL MVP in 2017.
