Biffy Clyro pull out of summer gig in Moscow following Ukraine conflict

Biffy Clyro have announced that they will no longer be appearing at a gig in Moscow this summer, due to the current conflict with Ukraine.

The Scots band took to Instagram today to announce the news, and said that their thoughts and prayers are with 'all Ukrainian citizens and Russian people who desire peace'.

In a statement, they said: "Following the invasion of Ukraine, Biffy Clyro will no longer be appearing at Park Live festival in Moscow this Summer. Our thoughts and prayers are with all Ukrainian citizens and Russian people who desire peace."

Last week, Russia invaded Ukraine and hundreds have already been killed in the conflict, which has seen several Ukrainian cities bombed.

And fans took to the comments to say they agreed with their decision.

One wrote: "Totally admire you guys!"

Another added: "I am Ukrainian. You are my favourite music band. I was waiting for this message. Thank you for support. Glory to Ukraine."

While one penned: "Thank you for this decision and support. All the love from Ukraine and waiting for you here."

Earlier this week, Glasgow Film Festival also revealed that it had pulled two Russian titles from its line up due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Taking to Twitter, they said: "In light of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and in response to plea from the Ukrainian Film Academy today, on behalf of the society of Ukrainian film professionals and culture figures, Glasgow Film Festival has decided to withdraw the two Russian titles (No Looking Back and The Execution) from our 2022 programme.

"This decision is not a reflection on the views or opinions of the makers of these titles. We just believe that it would be inappropriate to proceed as normal with these screenings in the current circumstances.

"All tickets purchased online for either of these films will be refunded in the next 24 hours. Customers who purchased their tickets personally at the box office will be given a refund on their next visit.

"Replacement films to fill the. slots which have been vacated by this decision will be announced in the next few days."
