Biden news: Cindy McCain to back Democratic nominee after Trump’s attacks on her late husband

Joe Biden is narrowly behind Donald Trump by a few percentage points in the crucial Sun Belt swing states of Arizona and Florida, according to the latest polling, indicating there is all to play for in the battlegrounds. 

The Democratic presidential nominee received another prominent Republican endorsement on Tuesday when Cindy McCain, the widow of Arizona senator and Vietnam War hero John McCain, announced her support for him.

Mrs McCain wrote on Twitter: “We are Republicans, yes, but Americans foremost… There's only one candidate in this race who stands up for our values as a nation, and that is Joe Biden.”
