
Russian president Vladimir Putin attempted to influence the outcome of the 2020 US presidential election with an expansive online misinformation campaign, a newly declassified intelligence report claims.
The campaign’s purpose was to stoke tensions and undermine confidence in the electoral process, as well as to “support Trump” and “denigrate Biden”, according to the report. Joe Biden responded by saying that “you’ll see shortly” the price his opposite number in Moscow is “going to pay”.
Donald Trump has, meanwhile, been accused of “inflaming discrimination” against Asian Americans by his use of racist terms like “Kung Flu” to describe Covid-19. Congressman Ted Lieu made the accusation in the wake of a deadly shooting in Georgia, which left six Asian people dead. A motive is yet to be established.
Mr Biden has said that Andrew Cuomo should resign as New York governor if the state attorney general’s investigation confirms the allegations of sexual harassment made against him.
He told ABC News that Mr Cuomo, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women, would “probably end up being prosecuted, too”. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi later added that the allegations are “serious” and “credible”.
