Some Democrat supporters have voiced their opposition against blue “Made America Great Already” hats, a response to the popular red “Make America Great Again" hats used by Donald Trump and his supporters, because they claim the US doesn’t need another ‘cult’.
The hats are not officially affiliated with Mr Biden’s campaign but have been sold on Amazon since 2019, reported Newsweek.
The hats, however, have drawn critical tweets from Democrat supporters such as actor Yvette Nicole Brown.
“We don’t need another cult. America just survived one. Enough with this. Not hats. Not chants. No crimes. No lies. Just good people working together to fix what's wrong. That's what America needs. That's all we need. Not this. Not these," she tweeted.
Author John Pavlovitz tweeted: "We already have Blue MAGA. It's called not being MAGA.”
One Twitter user wrote: “NO ONE wants anything to do with this stupid grift.”
The hats started making the rounds on Twitter last week after the Twitter account @BidenHarrisHats shared photos of people wearing the blue-coloured “MAGA” hats.
“You ‘Made America Great Already’ simply by firing and evicting Trump from our White House,” the tweet read. “Get your BIDEN ‘BLUE’ MAGA HAT now.”
The phrase “Make America Great Again” popularly used as MAGA re-entered US politics in 2016 when Donald Trump invoked Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign slogan of “Let’s Make America Great Again.”
Sampson Daruvalla, the president and the chief executive officer of the company, Made America Great Already, LLC, recently said that they’ve experienced a surge in orders of the hats.
