WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential hopefuls Joe Biden, Amy Klobuchar and Beto O’Rourke hit Chicago in the coming days for fundraising.
So far, no public events are scheduled, with rivals focusing on the early primary and caucus states stopping in Chicago for campaign cash. The presidential primary in Illinois is in March.
Biden, the former vice president, has at least two events Thursday, according to invitations obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times: The Thursday evening co-hosts include Sheila Nix, who served in the Obama White House as the chief of staff to Dr. Jill Biden — who now serves as an informal adviser to the campaign.
The co-hosts of a Thursday lunch reception include moguls Neil Bluhm; Elzie Higginbottom; Michael Sacks and Daniel and Anka Tierney. Sacks is an investor in the Sun-Times. The maximum ask for both is $2,800.
On Monday, Klobuchar, the Minnesota senator who lived in the city while attending the University of Chicago Law School, headlines a lunch hosted by business executives Lee Rosenberg and Richard Price with other co-hosts. The top ask is also $2,800.
Also Monday, O’Rourke, the former Texas congressman whose wife is from Chicago, holds a late afternoon event with hosts including Obama White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee; political consultant Marilyn Katz; and a major Democratic fundraiser, former Obama U.S. Ambassador to Britain Louis Susman and his wife, Marjorie. The biggest tab is $1,000.
