A bid to vary the layout of a proposed holiday village has been kicked out.
Administrators acting for BPL1 Ltd wanted to renew approval to change the layout of some of the 450 chalets planned for Barncrosh near Ringford.
But the council’s planning applications committee rejected the move as the previously agreed permission was deemed to be invalid due to old farm buildings on the site having been demolished.
BPL1 Ltd – previously known as Barncrosh Leisure Retreat Ltd and Belvedere Leisure Park Ltd – was placed in administration last year with millions of pounds worth of debt.
That included unpaid loans, with a firm called Moneything (Security Trustee Limited) owed more than £3.7 million.
Administrators Moorfields Advisory were brought in last summer and their proposal lodged with Companies House revealed they wanted to renew the planning permission – initially granted for 444 chalets in 2014 – and sell the site.
Case officer Andrew Robinson told the planning committee that a section 42 for the site – which involved changing some aspects of the layout and seeking agreement for the work to be carried out in phases – was approved in January 2018.
Part of this involved converting old farm buildings, but on a recent site visit it was discovered these had been “entirely demolished”.
As a result, it was deemed that “the previous planning permission is no longer considered to be extant” and the latest section 42 application should be refused.
Some councillors questioned whether the application should be before the committee and Mr Robinson said the applicants had chosen neither to withdraw their proposal nor speak at the committee.
Members agreed to go with the recommendation to refuse the application.
