Bid to transform Perthshire airfield site into motorhome storage space

Balado Airfield owners Hilton Estates has applied to change the use of part of the site so a pair of prospective tenants can lease the land to motorhome owners looking for somewhere to keep their vehicles.

Fife-based consultants Gray Planning and Development have filed an application with Perth and Kinross Council on behalf of the company to change the use of one of the airfield’s hangars so Stravaig Motorhome Rental can start selling spaces next summer.

According to the Companies House website Stravaig Motorhome Rental is jointly run by William Graham Findlay and Sarah Jane Fitzpatrick.

The website says Mr Findlay is also the director of a second company called Central Air Services.

An application form sent to PKC last week explained: “The applicant has an agreement with the prospective tenants to lease 457 square metres of an existing hangar building for three years to enable the tenants to grow a young business following significant change to their economic circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The tenants have structured the new business to start up rapidly and target summer 2021 to provide the storage facility at Balado, there being no ready-made alternative
sites.”

The application awaits responses from consultees.
