Bid to trace man 'with Spanish accent' after 21-year-old woman attacked in Stockbridge

A CCTV image has been released of a man police are looking to trace in connection with an attack on a 21-year-old woman in Stockbridge.

Officers say that the woman was assaulted while on St Bernard's Row at around 4am on Sunday, 2 June.

And they believe the man in the image may have information which could assist their enquiries.

They describe him as being of "Mediterranean appearance", around 5ft 6ins tall, of medium build and with dark coloured hair. He was wearing a short dark-coloured jacket, had light coloured trousers on and dark shoes. Police also say he spoke with a Spanish accent.

Detective sergeant Craig Guthrie from the public protection unit said: "This has been a frightening experience for the woman and as part of our inquiries we're eager to speak to the man pictured. I'd urge anyone who can help us identify and trace him to get in touch with officers as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2028 of 2 June. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
