Bid to trace man who dumped kittens on counter at Fife Pets at Home store when nobody was looking

An image has been released of a man who dumped a cat and her three kittens on the counter at a Pets at Home store in Fife.

Inspectors from the Scottish SPCA are hoping to trace the male, who left the animals behind in a cream counter on Sunday, 31 March.

The incident happened at the Halbeath Retail Park store in Dunfermline.

The man responsible entered the store and walked around for a bit before leaving the cats behind when nobody was looking.

A short time later staff found them and contacted the Scottish SPCA.

Warning over Midlothian 'pigeon fancier' who allegedly tried to steal a local dad's set of ladders

Inspector Nicola Liddell said: "We are looking to speak to the man responsible for leaving these cats in the store.

"The man entered the store with the cats in a cream carrier and walked around before approaching the counter. When no one was looking he placed the carrier on the shop counter and walked out.

"Thankfully the cat and her kittens appear to be in good health and have been taken to one of our centres where they will be cared for."

The Scottish SPCA want anyone who knows the identity of this man to contact their confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
