Bid to blow up Punjab Intelligence HQ in Mohali using RPG

MOHALI: There was a bid to blow up the Punjab intelligence headquarters at Sohana in Mohali late in the evening when some unidentified persons launched Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) which landed at the third floor of the building.

The RPG fortunately did not explode and only damaged the glass door, window panes at around 8 pm.

The police led by ADGPs, SSP, SPs, DSPs and SHOs of all the police stations if Mohali reached the the spot and the area of around 100 meters radius.

Punjab DGP V K Bhawra said, "There was a minor explosion at the third floor of our intelligence headquarters today evening at around 7.45 pm. There is no damage. We are investigating all the facts on this incident."

As per the press communique released by Mohali Police, a minor explosion was reported at the Punjab Police Intelligence Head quarters in sector 77, Mohali at around 7:45 PM. No damage has been reported. Senior officers are on the spot and investigation is being done. Forensic teams have been called.

Former Dy CM and home minister of Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa tweeted, "The bomb blast in Mohali is a sign of deep communalism. I strongly condemn this incident and urge the @PunjabGovtIndia to investigate and take stern action against those who are intent on disturbing the peace of Punjab."
