Bibby Line Group moving to new HQ at Liverpool's iconic Exchange Flags

A global business group is moving its Liverpool headquarters to an iconic building in the heart of the city's commercial district.

The family-owned business, which has been based in Liverpool for over 200 years, will occupy 20,000 sq ft of modern accommodation across two floors at Walker House, which is located adjacent to the Town Hall.

Around 150 employees from the group and its subsidiary businesses will relocate from 105 and 91 Duke Street, to refurbished suites on the third and fourth floors of the building, which is owned by Ashtrom Properties UK, by the end of this year.

According to the firm, Bibby Financial Services will continue to serve clients out of its offices in Princes Parade.

John Cresswell, CEO of Bibby Line Group, said: “Exchange Flags is a stunning building and represents an exciting opportunity to consolidate our long history in Liverpool city centre while providing the Group with modern premises, better equipped for the needs of current and future colleagues and customers.

“Duke Street has served us well over the last 25 years but relocating to Exchange Flags brings us closer to the centre of the business community and provides our fantastic team with the best possible working environment and amenities, as we continue to invest for the future.”

The Grade II-Listed Exchange Flags was acquired by Ashtrom Properties UK from Shelborn Asset Management in August 2019. It comprises 313,000 sq ft of offices over 10 floors, across Horton House and Walker House.

Guy Lewinsohn, CEO at Ashtrom Properties UK, said: “Bibby Line Group is a prestigious tenant fitting for such an outstanding building and we’re proud that the business sees its future in Exchange Flags.”

Bibby Line Group is a £1bn-turnover business, operating in 16 countries and employing 4,000 people in retail, financial services, distribution, marine and construction equipment hire.

One of the UK’s oldest family-owned businesses, it has over 200 years’ experience of providing customer solutions.

Bibby Line Group was advised by Avison Young and DLA Piper.

Ashtrom Properties UK was advised by Worthington Owen and Memery Crystal.

Bibby Line Group acquired the space within Walker House from Jackson Lees Group, who were advised by Weightmans and Worthington Owen.
