Bhubaneswar railway station upgrade work to start in 6 months

BHUBANESWAR: East Coast Railway (ECoR) general manager Vidya Bhushan on Friday said work on the Rs 1075 crore redevelopment of Bhubaneswar railway station will start within six months. Speaking to the media after reviewing the redevelopment plan, Bhushan said detailed project report and plan for construction has already been done. “After finalizing the detailed project estimate, tender will be floated. Within six months work will start as per the MoU signed between the state government and ECoR in September 2019,” Bhushan said.

A shopping complex, restaurant, parking lot and other facilities will be provided in the station apart from two additional railway lines. Stating that the station will have airport like modern facilities, Bhushan said the station will be developed into a commercial hub with aesthetic lighting, improved signage and improved passenger amenities, including waiting hall. “More amenities will be provided to the travelling public. Apart from this, circulating area will also be developed and will be beautified. Drainage system will be thoroughly addressed. More parking space will be provided near platform 6,” he added.
