BHOPAL: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an acquaintance on the pretext of marriage for around nine months in TT Nagar locality. The case was reported at TT Nagar police station on Thursday after the accused and his family members refused to accept the survivor as a member of their family.
Police said, the accused neighbour befriended her almost a year ago. A few months later he promised to marry the survivor and outraged her modesty. Since then, he was repeatedly raping her and later the duo shifted to a rented flat in TT Nagar.
Whenever the survivor asked him for marriage, he used to make excuses but a few days back when she approached the accused’s home, her family refused to accept her. Acting on her complaint, a rape case under relevant sections of IPC was registered and further investigations are on.
